  1. Very funny bits, but for me it swings and misses on a couple of moments (while still playing a winning game with plenty of base hits – am I doing baseball right?). Two moments specifically.

One is the Rebecca subplot. I feel like it needed a closer in the third act, perhaps with a new hire walking in (whether as a cliffhanger or not) and the matter not settled off screen.

The other is the ending with Al. I think it works fine, but my initial thought was that Cliff was having a spasm because he’d been quickly conditioned. If one of the psychiatrists had been present to mention Pavlovian response or something, THEN the reveal that no, it was Al all along would have been a much better classic switch.

  2. This episode isn’t one of my all time favorites, but I agree it’s the best Cliff episode so far in the series. I have to say the Jeopardy episode next season tops this and is in my list of top 10 episodes. I liked the Lilith/Sam subplot as well. It’s cool that we’re starting to see Lilith interact with other characters on her own sometimes without Frasier.

  3. The Lilith/Sam plot (is there anyone that Lilith just doesn’t shine with?) was the only thing that worked. Cliff is by far my least favourite character and this doesn’t do much to change that. The spasm stuff just felt too over the top and silly. There are good Cliff eps (Jeopardy and Cliff Killed His Mother?) that top this easily.

  4. I guess I’ll be the one to say I like this episode a lot. The other plots are funny side bits, and Cliff’s part is hilarious. The part which always gets me is “All right, let’s see how you like it! Bbb-bbb-bbb-bbb!!” Classic slapstick moment, and I love it!
